How you get paid
Last updated 14 October 2026
Your friends’ gifts end up in your own bank account. Here is exactly how the money travels, so there are no surprises.
The short version
Gifts are paid to CelebrantDay through Paystack first, and credited to your CelebrantDay earnings balance when you open the wish. You then withdraw that balance to your own bank account. Your friends’ payments are not sent to your bank at the moment they pay, because the wishes are sealed until your day.
Step by step
- 01
A friend sends a wish with a gift
They open your link, write a message, pick a gift and pay through Paystack, Nigeria’s card and bank payment provider. They need no account. The amount they pay is the gift’s price plus Paystack’s card-processing charge, and both are shown before they confirm.
- 02
The payment is confirmed, then the wish appears
A wish only lands on your keepsake after its payment has been confirmed with Paystack. If a payment fails or is abandoned, nothing is charged and no wish is posted.
- 03
The wish stays sealed until your day
Neither you nor anyone else can open the wishes early. Gifts are waiting for you, not yet in your balance.
- 04
You open a wish and the gift joins your balance
When you open a wish on or after your celebration date, its gift is added to your CelebrantDay earnings balance as pending, after CelebrantDay’s share is taken out.
- 05
Pending becomes available
Earnings become available from the start of the day after your celebration, Nigerian time. A gift you open after that day is available straight away.
- 06
You verify once, then withdraw to your bank
Before your first withdrawal we check your identity. Then you choose a Nigerian bank account and withdraw whatever is available, from ₦100. The money is sent to that account by bank transfer.
What is taken out
CelebrantDay’s share comes out of each gift, and the rate depends on the kind of gift. These are the current rates:
Card-processing charge. Paystack’s charge for taking the card payment is added on top for the sender. It is shown before they pay and does not come out of your gift.
Bank transfer fee. A small fee for the bank transfer is taken from the amount you withdraw. It starts from ₦10, and you see the exact figure before you confirm each withdrawal.
Identity check before your first withdrawal
Because money is leaving the platform for a real bank account, we ask you to verify your identity once. You provide your full name, date of birth and National Identification Number (NIN), with a photo of your ID document. A person on our team reviews it. You can receive gifts and see your balance while it is being reviewed; you cannot withdraw until it clears.
See the Privacy Policy for how this information is handled.
Your bank account
When you add a bank account we ask your bank, through Paystack, for the account name, and we save that name rather than whatever was typed. Withdrawals go only to accounts saved in your profile.
If a withdrawal can’t be sent automatically
Sometimes the automatic transfer is declined or fails. In that case your money is not lost and not released twice: the withdrawal is held and our team reviews it and pays it by hand, or returns the amount to your available balance. You can see the status of every withdrawal in your earnings page.
Good to know
- Amounts are in Nigerian naira (₦).
- Senders can choose to be anonymous on the card, but we keep the payment record, as payments always leave a trail.
- If someone you referred receives gifts, a part of CelebrantDay’s share may be paid to you; it does not reduce what the person receiving the gift gets.
